Tagliacozzo is around a 1 hour 15 minutes drive from the our Rentals in Abruzzo Italy and well worth a day trip to explore this Medieval little gem. This charming medieval village has also be honored as it has proudly won the title of one of Italy’s most beautiful villages (i borghi piu belli d’Italia) and the main square of Tagliacozzo is Piazza dell’Obelisco, named because of its obelisk shaped fountain is probably the main site attraction. Another main site not to be missed and explored includes the Palazzo Ducale which is a typical example of Abruzzo civil architecture.
This medieval village has pretty alleys to meander through and its Baroque palazzi can be admired as you stroll in through the main piazza. The walls of this medieval town were built in 1410 and used to have five gates. Once you enter the medieval village from the Roman arch, you will see Piazza Obelisco – one of the most beautiful squares in Abruzzo region. The main piazza is overlooked by graceful colorful buildings and you can soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the sights while you enjoy a caffe in one of the cafes.
